February 2022 Contractor of the Month is: Elegant Landscape Lighting Design

How did you get into the landscape lighting business?

Knowing I’ve always wanted to have my own business and having an eye for landscaping. I knew I wanted to do something different with very few competitors in my area. I wanted to help impressive features stand out at night and offer an incomparable service. Raising the standard for outdoor lighting in my area. Of course, as say - it’s better to try and fail then to never know. In this case I’m fortunate to have been successful.

What percentage of your business is landscape lighting/what other services do you provide (ie: landscaping, irrigation, electrical…)?

I’m 100% dedicated towards installing landscape lighting systems.

How long have you been installing landscape lighting?

I started Elegant Landscape Lighting in January of 2020. This will be my second year of installations!

What AMP products do you prefer to use? Which fixtures are your favorite?

With my projects I go with the AMP® PinnaclePro MR16 Spotlight (Lamp-Ready) and AMP® EcoPro MR16 Spotlight (Lamp-Ready) for up lighting . AMP® MagnumPro™ Path Light (Lamp-Ready) and AMP® NovellePro Path Light (Lamp-Ready) for Path/Area lighting. My favorites out of all are the AMP® PinnaclePro MR16 Spotlight (Lamp-Ready) and . AMP® MagnumPro™ Path Light (Lamp-Ready).

What tips or tricks have you learned that have benefited your work from a design/installation perspective?

To focus on the architectural features that stand out the most and work from there. Drawing your eye to beautiful columns or brick patterns for example. Making a focal point on the most impressive!

Tell us about your sales process. How you find your customers? What is your sales process? Do you use sales tools such as a free demo...?

Most of my clients contact me through word of mouth or through my Facebook business page. I offer a pre-design using a picture of their home so they have a visual of what an amazing transformation it will make. I personally don’t offer a free demo and have never lost any clients because of it.

Where do you find inspiration for your lighting designs?

I feel like I’ve always had an eye for it. Mostly by noticing other homes with outdoor lighting. Other homes teach you what looks good and what doesn’t look good. I’ve also been inspired by others in the field. Especially a few connections with other company’s in the state.

What do you feel is the most personally rewarding part of installing a lighting system for a client?

The most rewarding part of the install is hearing the clients feedback when they first see the system on. The second most rewarding for me is when you are making the final adjustments when the sun goes down. Seeing what the difference a completed install makes on an already stunning home.

Tell us a little bit about you personally: What do you like to do outside of work? What are your hobbies?

Besides this light business, I also have a passion for real estate and enjoy traveling, being outside and active, and a hobby for cars!
