Naming matters, especially once you build Zones like Front Yard and Back Yard. It is important to use a consistent format. Pro Tip: When naming devices, include a location identifier (for example, “Front Walkway Spot” or “Patio Path Light”). This makes Zone creation and device management easier.

• Device type
• Abbreviated location
• Number identifier

Examples: 

• Path Light BY1 (Backyard #1), Path Light BY2 (Backyard #2)
• Spotlight FY1 (Front Yard #1)
• Spotlight BY OAK1 (Spotlight Backyard under Oak Tree #1)
• Gateway Garage (Gateway located in garage)
• Hardscape BYP1 (Hardscape, Backyard Patio #1)

To rename any device:

• Tap the device
• Tap the Location
• Tap the edit pencil

Rename it and tap Done
