Low-voltage landscape lighting systems are popular amongst homeowners as affordable, effective lighting solutions. Clients today want complete control over these lighting systems; to be able to decide what they are functioning for, and when. As technology in the industry has advanced, so have the unique control features available for professional lighting designers.
Control Features
The new, Dual Circuit Transformer from AMP® allows homeowners to run two independently controlled landscape lighting systems. With two-timer and photocell slots, the 600-Watt transformer is ideal for homes that have multiple lighting zones.
Essentially, the zone-control feature allows professional lighting designers to program a main zone of operation and a secondary zone that can be programmed, or operated manually when needed. Each system would have 300 Watts of power available for use.
PRO Techniques
- Security– Outdoor lighting is excellent for providing home security. For maximum security, designers can have a specific zone programmed for operating a homeowner’s area lights, flood lights, and motion sensor lights at certain times of the day and night.
- Safety– Part of owning a home is making it as safe as possible for yourself and others. A properly designed lighting layout can prevent trips, falls, and other accidents from occurring. To enhance safety around a home or property, a zone can be programmed to operate step lights, deck lights, and path lights.
- Entertainment– When friends and family are visiting, most homeowners want their guests to feel safe and, even if it may be secretly, they want to impress the guests as well; “wow” them. With zone control features, designers can program decorative area lights, tiki torch lights, and outdoor kitchen lights to provide light for entertainment when needed.
