We specialize in troubleshooting for residential and commercial. Our services include solar systems, recess lighting, EV chargers, panel upgrades, LED lighting, lighting retrofits and much more. My name is John Reed owner of Next Level Electric, I live in Ventura with my wife Heather and our three children Andrew, Alexys and Avery. I have been working in the electrical field for twenty eight years. As a kid I was always intrigued with electricity and found myself at the age of thirteen wiring lights and outlets in my grandpa’s shed and garage simply loving every minute of it. At the age of sixteen I started my first job as an apprentice for a large electrical company. I have done everything from energy management systems for retail stores like Macy’s department store to wiring custom homes. After working on large projects for many years I started working for a company specializing in electrical service based out of Simi Valley, doing everything from trouble shooting to panel upgrades and lighting installs. I truly found my passion to help others with their electrical needs. I later found a company based out of Santa Barbara that I was apart of for sixteen years. I was their lead service electrician doing everything from panel upgrades to landscape design & install as well as Interior lighting design and install. In order to be closer to my family I was offered an amazing opportunity to manage a service department for a local electric company, I worked doing everything from scheduling to installs of electrical needs & estimating. After many years of wanting to create my own company and having my family, friends and customers encouraging me along, I am happy to say that I have followed my dreams and created Next Level Electric!

How did you get into the landscape lighting business?
Loved Landscapes lights sense the first time I installed them for a company I worked for Years ago, And when I fully understood what you can Design and how Amazing it can change a look of a house or business I feel in love with the design and install.

What percentage of your business is landscape lighting/what other services do you provide (ie: landscaping, irrigation, electrical…)?
25% the rest is Electrical services.

How long have you been installing landscape lighting?
At least 25 Years.

What AMP products do you prefer to use? Which fixtures are your favorite?
We prefer to use the AerialistPro Hanging Light, Soft-Wash Pro™ 6” Rotatable Hardscape, and SummitPro™ Path & Area Light.

What tips or tricks have you learned that have benefited your work from a design/installation perspective?
Light degrees, Angles for shadows, Trees for bell lights instead of path lights.

Tell me about your sales process. How do you find your customers? What is your sales process? Do you use sales tools such as a free demo…
I show pictures of job and listen to customers' needs and make suggestions that I know they will love. Social media is big for us and word of mouth.

Where do you find inspiration for your lighting designs?
Pretty much what I have seen and learned from what I have done and when I see something I like when driving by by places.

What do you feel is the most personally rewarding part of installing a lighting system for a client?
Their Face when we do a night adjust and we turn them on for them for the first time. Also reviews.

Tell us a little bit about you personally: What do you like to do outside of work? What are your hobbies?
Fun, go lucky personality, and I love my clients. I love deep sea fishing the most but also enjoy Lake fishing, I love spending time with my wife Heather Reed who is also our Office manger.
